Included within this scope are our Oxo-Biodegradable bags containing the Reverte additive for controlled degradation. It is our belief that putting a life-cycle on our plastic is both beneficial and environmentally friendly.
Our Oxo-biodegradable bags are designed to have a usable shelf life and then oxo-biodegrade when disposed of according to the information and technical documentation provided to us by our Reverte additive supplier. Although not guaranteed to oxo-biodegrade in all conditions, our bags have been manufactured to be far more susceptible to environmental effects than conventional plastic bags.
For oxo-biodegradation to fully take place the presence of certain criteria must be met that may not always be present. For instance if our oxo-biodegradable bags were discarded in a desert where there is little to no microbial activity it would be impossible for complete biodegradation to take place. Our bags would, although, very likely still degrade in these conditions, through embrittlement and micro fragmentation, breaking the plastic down into non-toxic bits that go back into the natural biocycle.
It is important to note that in most places where our bags would be discarded, such as in a landfill where microbial life is abundant, full oxo-biodegradation would be expected to take place. Fit-for-use life cycles along with eventual oxo-biodegradation or oxo-degradation are all environmentally responsible benefits that conventional plastic cannot offer.
